Shannon Elise

Shannon Lewallen is an award winning professional Middle Eastern Dancer and Instructor. Shannon is also a WBFF (World Beauty, Fitness, and Fashion) Professional Competitive Athlete and is constantly working with industry professionals to understand the latest health, fitness, and wellness research to improve her teaching techniques. As the Director of Communications for Sports Research Shannon works closely with athletes and and other health and fitness professionals to empower individuals to embrace their own unique healthy lifestyles.

Shannon attended the University of Southern California while competing as a Heptathlete and Pole Vaulter on the USC Track & Field Team, serving as Captain of the Women’s Pole Vault Program. She also helped start USC's first ever women's Dancer/Athlete performance troupe. After graduating with a degree in International Relations, Shannon left competitive track and field to rekindle her love for dance by training and performing for 6 years in an international dance company, "Layla & the Lotus Dancers."

Shannon went on to develop her own Middle Eastern Dance workout method called RAQSHIMMY while building a professional career as an independent choreographer, performer, and private dance and fitness instructor. Shannon continues to teach students of all ages at workshops, retreats, and private events around the world sharing her love for movement and the art, culture, history and tradition of Middle Eastern Dance.
